Advanced Retinal Testing at Inclima Eye Care
What Is ERG?
Electroretinography (ERG) is a non-invasive test that measures how well the retina—the light-sensitive tissue at the back of your eye—is functioning. Just like an EKG tests your heart, an ERG shows us how your retina responds to light, helping us detect conditions that can't always be seen during a standard eye exam.
At Inclima Eye Care, we’re proud to offer in-office ERG testing as part of our commitment to advanced technology and early disease detection.
Why ERG Testing Could Save Your Sight
ERG allows us to detect early signs of retinal disease, even before symptoms appear. It’s especially helpful for diagnosing or monitoring:
- Retinitis Pigmentosa and other inherited retinal degenerations
- Macular Degeneration
- Diabetic Retinopathy
- Glaucoma (especially in assessing ganglion cell function)
- Drug Toxicity Monitoring (such as from Plaquenil/hydroxychloroquine)
- Unexplained Vision Loss
- Congenital Vision Disorders in Children
What to Expect During Your ERG Test
ERG testing at Inclima Eye Care is:
- Non-invasive – No needles, no injections
- Comfortable – A soft sensor is placed near your eye
- Quick – Most tests take just 20–30 minutes
- Safe – No downtime, and you can return to normal activities right after
You'll sit comfortably in a dimly lit room while we measure how your retina responds to light flashes. Our team walks you through every step, ensuring you feel at ease throughout the process.
